Program Overview

A Mental Health Aide provides support and assistance to individuals with mental health challenges. Their duties may include helping clients with daily activities, providing emotional support, and facilitating therapeutic activities as directed by mental health professionals. Mental Health Aides, also known as mental health technicians, behavioral health aides, and psychiatric aides, work in a variety of healthcare settings, such as psychiatric hospitals and residential mental health facilities.

Receiving Academic Credit Hours

All courses in the Mental Health Workforce Skills Award (WSA) program have the option to be converted to credit hours using a Petition to Record Credit form.

Admissions Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma/GED not required
  • Recommended minimum of 9th grade level math and reading knowledge
