Canvas Access for New and Returning Instructors

Before your start date

Del Mar College does not provide access to DMC email or Canvas until an employee's official start date. This page describes what to do before access is available.

Preparing Course material

To prepare Canvas course material prior to the start date, instructors may sign up for a free Canvas account using a personal email address. Course material can be created and edited in this free account until access to DMC email and Canvas is received. At that time, the material can be exported from the free account, then imported into the official class shell.

Some departments may prefer to assist new instructors by setting up content for them inside the Del Mar Canvas instance. Please contact your department chair to find out which method they prefer or works for a particular situation.
