Confidentiality

Here at Del Mar College Counseling Center, protecting your privacy is of utmost importance to us. DMC-CC maintains confidentiality for all of its clients. Counseling records are separate from academic records and cannot be accessed by faculty, non-DMC-CC staff, or family members without your written consent. There are exceptions to the limits of confidentiality and these exceptions are:

• When a counselor believes you are an imminent danger to yourself and/or others.
• When a counselor learns of abuse to a child or vulnerable adult.
• When disclosure is made necessary by legal proceedings.

Any additional information to be shared needs to be discussed between the counselor and client.
