Basic Peace Officer Certification (BPOC)

FOR 2025 SUMMER II - FALL, 23-WEEK DAYTIME POLICE ACADEMY

CLASS SCHEDULE: MONDAY-FRIDAY, 8:00AM-5:00PM

• February 17, 2025 (Mon) - Application period opens.  To start with your application, please email Mr. John Hornsby (Director, Police Academy) at JHornsby@delmar.edu to schedule a phone interview. Please include your email and telephone number where you can be reached. Mr. Hornsby will contact you to conduct a brief interview. The interview is held for pre-qualification purposes, and an application packet will be issued to pre-qualified applicants only.
• June 16, 2025 (Mon) - Deadline to submit completed application packet. Packet submission is by appointment only.  Packet will be checked for completeness before it gets officially received for final review.

Only for those officially accepted into the Academy:

• June 25, 2025 (Wed) - Physical fitness test
• July 3, 2025 (Thur)- Cadet orientation
• July 7, 2025 (Mon)- First day of classes
• December 11, 2025 (Thur)- Last day of classes (graduation)

TCOLE IN-SERVICE CE COURSES

We have added several courses to our spring/summer offerings.

The following classes will be offered at the Del Mar College Regional Police Academy.  Due to a reduction in grant funding from the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, all courses (except ALERRT) will be charged at full price to all attendees.  The cost associated with the course is listed below.  We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to be able to continue to support the coastal bend law enforcement community with no cost courses in the future.

1. Intermediate Crime Scene Investigation #2106 – April 21st thru April 25th, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205). Cost $145.  
2. ALERRT - Level 1 #3311 – April 26th thru April 27th, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-219).  This course is currently full, but you can be placed on a waitlist by registering at ALERRT.org.  This course is free.
3. ALERRT - Level 1 #3311 – May 17th thru May 18th, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-219). This course is free.  Register at ALERRT.org
4. New Supervisor Course #3737 – May 20th thru May 22nd, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205).  Cost $85
5. Field Training Officer Course #3702 – June 2nd thru June 4th, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205).  Cost $97
6. Basic Civil Process #3131 - June 9th thru June 11th, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205).  Cost $85
7. ALERRT - Level 1 #3311 – June 21st thru June 22nd, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-219).  This course if free.  Register at ALERRT.org
8. ALERRT - Level 1 #3311 – August 16 thru August 17th, 2025 (0800-1700) at Del Mar College Windward Campus (PS1-205).  This course if free.  Register at ALERRT.org

TCOLE licensing exams are scheduled for the following dates starting at 9:00 AM.  Please arrive at the Police Academy Building located at 4101 Old Brownsville Rd. no later than 8:45AM with your driver license.  Currently there is no cost for licensing examinations.
