Scholarship Auditions

SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS WILL BE DONE IN-PERSON OR BY VIDEO RECORDINGS.

Instrumental:

February 1st (In conjunction with the First Chair Honor Band)

Instrumental and Vocal:

February 10th (In conjunction with Music Major Day)

March 1st (VOCALISTS ONLY)

Steps to complete the application

1. Completed DMC Application at applytexas.org
2. Complete the Scholarship Application - Department of Music at DMC. (Available online now)
3. Complete the DMC Foundation Scholarship Application. Reminder: This online application will be available on 2/1/25 and will close on 4/30/25. Please complete the application before the deadline.

What to prepare for your in-person, or video audition

Brass and Woodwinds

• Two Major Scales of your choice in two octaves.
• A chromatic scale from the bottom to the top of your range.
• At least 5 minutes of a larger work that you have prepared. Please be sure to play sections with contrasting styles.

Percussion

• Keyboard Percussion: One 2-mallet or 4-mallet solo; perform two major scales of the applicant's choice in two octaves.
• Snare Drum: One concert style or rudimental style solo.
• Optional: Timpani solo; multiple Percussion solo.

VIDEO AUDITIONS FOR WOODWINDS, BRASS & PERCUSSION

• You may use your cell phones to record yourself.
• You DO NOT need to perform your music with an accompanist.
