Fraternity and Sorority
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the largest music fraternity in the world, with over 100,000 members initiated since its founding in 1898. From its humble beginning at Boston's New England Conservatory of Music the fraternity has grown into an organization with chapters over 200 college campuses. The fraternity's membership rolls include many of America's finest performers, composers, conductors, and educators.
Kappa Chi, the fraternity's Del Mar College chapter, was chartered in 1962. As a chapter of a professional music fraternity Kappa Chi provides a variety of social and musical possibilities. Kappa Chi ensembles include a barbershop quartet, a Dixieland band, a jazz combo, a rock band, and a chapter chorus. Kappa Chi has been named outstanding chapter in Province 9 four times in its forty-nine year history.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is open to any man with an interest in music. New members are inducted each semester after undergoing an eight-week probationary term.
Phi Sigma Sorority
