Test Proctoring - Respondus Monitor and Lockdown Browser
Test Proctoring - Respondus Monitor and Lockdown Browser
Respondus Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas. Respondus Monitor builds upon LockDown Browser by adding webcam technology for remote proctoring.
Features
- LockDown Browser prevents students from minimizing assessments, accessing other applications, or using shortcuts during an exam. Students also cannot print, copy, or search the Internet while using LockDown Browser.
- Respondus Monitor records students during an exam, flags suspicious behavior, and provides instructors with post-exam analysis.
- There's no need to schedule a proctoring session in advance, and students and instructors do not need to register at the Respondus website.
Designed For
- Students
- Faculty
- Staff
Requirements
- For Lockdown Browser, the browser must be installed on the computer used to take the online exam.
- For Respondus Monitor, a webcam is required to record the student.

- Respondus Monitor is a fully automated solution. Only instructors see the proctoring results.
- Respondus Monitor meets the security requirements of FERPA, GDPR, CCPA, TX-RAMP, and SOC2.
