John P. Jackson is a fifth-generation Rockport native whose family has lived in the community since 1888, operating businesses at Rockport Boat Harbor for 85 years. He began his career in the family enterprise, Jackson Seafood and Jackson Marine Services, before transitioning in 1992 to Morgan Stanley, where he served as a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor until his retirement in 2023. He co-founded The Rockport Group at Morgan Stanley in 2002, building a respected advisory practice rooted in long-term relationships and community trust.
A graduate of Texas A&I University, where he earned his BBA and MBA summa cum laude on academic and athletic scholarships, John is a member of multiple halls of fame, including the Javelina Hall of Fame and the Rockport-Fulton Sports Hall of Fame. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus and Academic All American, reflecting both scholastic and athletic excellence.
John’s lifelong commitment to service spans scouting, education, the arts, faith, and civic leadership. An Eagle Scout and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, he has served in numerous leadership roles across the region, including President of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Founding President of the Rockport-Fulton Education Foundation, and board service with organizations such as the South Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Christus Spohn Hospital Foundation, and Del Mar College Foundation. He and his wife Debbie have two children and two grandchildren and enjoy spending time at their ranch on the Mission River. He is also co-author of Taking the Tide: My Family’s Ebb and Flow in Rockport, Texas.
