Matthew Busby serves as Vice President of Development & Donor Advising at Del Mar College and Executive Director of the Del Mar College Foundation. He oversees fundraising, board and asset management, and scholarship and grant programs, driven by a passion for seeking excellence while building systematic, sustainable, and data-driven initiatives—and by cultivating authentic relationships with philanthropic partners that empower students and strengthen the Coastal Bend community. Since joining Del Mar in 2019, the Foundation’s net assets have doubled to $45.5 million, and more than $16 million has been awarded to over 12,000 students, including a record $3 million in 2024–25 to more than 2,000 students.

Prior to Del Mar, Matthew spent a decade in higher education at College of the Mainland and Hill College, serving in financial aid, academic advising, and fundraising roles. These experiences shaped his commitment to student success and informed his strategic approach to philanthropy and institutional advancement.

A sixth-generation Texan, Matthew holds a master’s degree in Management & Leadership from Western Governors University, a bachelor’s in Political Science from Baylor University, and an associate degree from Temple College. He earned his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2017 and served as President of the Texas Association of Community College Foundations, leading a strategic reinvention of the organization. He is active in AFP, TACCF, and the Corpus Christi Estate Planning Council and has presented nationally on fundraising and LinkedIn strategies.
