District 3 Seat Applicant Process

Del Mar College Board of Regents accepting applicants for district 3 seat 

The Del Mar College (DMC) Board of Regents announced today during the Feb. 9 regular meeting the process for filling the District 3 seat left vacant after accepting the resignation of Regent Elva Estrada. The Board is now accepting the required documents for their consideration for an appointment to the District 3 seat. 

Individuals interested in filling the vacant seat must submit the prescribed materials for consideration by the Board. Criteria include: 

  • Candidate must be a resident of Texas (at least one year) and District 3 of the Del Mar College District (at least six months) and be a registered voter. The Del Mar College District includes all the area in the Calallen, Corpus Christi, Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway and West Oso Independent School Districts. AND 

  • Candidate should submit 1) a letter of interest, 2) resume and 3) up to five letters of reference addressing their qualifications. Requested documents may be submitted to the Office of General Counsel by one of the following ways:

Applicant materials must be received by noon Monday, March 15. 

 (Please note that application drop-off will not be available during the College's Spring Break, March 8-12.  However, materials may be submitted by fax or email during this time.) 

 The Board will review applicant materials during closed session during their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 16. Selected applicants should be prepared for interviews with Board members during a special called meeting on Friday, March 19. 

 The candidate selected for the District 3 seat will be sworn-in and take their seat on Tuesday, April 13, for the Board’s regular meeting. The appointed individual will fill the District 3 seat for the remainder of the term, which runs through 2024.
