Admission Requirements
In addition to the general admission requirements of the college and the Health Sciences programs, the Bureau of Radiologic Health and Safety requires applicants to be within three months of being 18 years of age or older.

- Radiologic Technology Application (Web Form)
- ATI TEAS exam required. Must be Radiology TEAS (AH) and must submit a paper copy of score when applying. For more information see DMC's Testing Center Exam Information.
- All official college transcripts must be submitted and must be OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS IN A SEALED ENVELOPE as we need paper copies for your file.
- Need to turn in your HPRS SKILLS CHECKLIST DONE IN HPRS 1204.
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Completion of all prerequisites. The general education courses listed in the curriculum may be taken prior to admission into the Radiologic Technology program. Completion of the general education courses enhances a student's selection to the program.
- BIOL 2401 must have been taken within 5 years from the semester applying for admission.
- HPRS 1106 and 1204 must have been taken within 2 years from the semester applying for admission.
The student must receive written acceptance into the program and obtain a physical exam and other requirements prior to first day of class.
All background checks will be conducted as a condition of full acceptance into the Del Mar College programs and all clinical courses.
Immunization Requirements
These requirements apply to all students enrolled in health-related programs in Texas schools, which will involve direct patient contact in program-affiliated medical care facilities. This includes Radiologic Technology Majors.
Application Acceptance
All students can apply to the Radiologic Technology Program. A selection committee will review all applications and select the maximum number of students that can be supported by the limitations of the clinical settings, currently twenty-two. The selection will be based on points earned for the Grade Point Average (GPA), for the number of basic and prerequisite courses completed, and each letter grade for those courses. Students with the highest point values achieved by the most courses completed within the curriculum and the highest point values for letter grades will be invited into the program.
GPA Points
- 3.5-4.0 = 5 points
- 3.0-3.49 = 4 points
- 2.5-2.99 = 3 points
- 2.0-2.49 = 2 points
Letter Points
- A = 4 points
- B = 3 points
- C = 2 points
- D = 0 points
TEAS Exam Points
- Based on overall score, 1 - 10 points
- For example, a 60% overall score = 6 points
Curriculum
Additional Points awarded for the following:
- 1 point for each course completed
- 1 point for an Associates/Bachelor's degree earned previously or 2 points for a Master's degree earned
- 1 point if BIOL 2402 was successfully completed with a "C" grade or better
Prerequisites
- HPRS 1106/Medical Terminology
- HPRS 1204/Basic Health Profession Skills
- BIOL 2401/Human Anatomy & Physiology I
- ENGL 1301/Freshman Composition I (If both ENGL 1301 & ENGL 1302 were taken, the higher grade will be awarded)
- Core Math (MATH 1314/College Algebra or higher level math preferred)
- SPCH 1315/Fundamentals of Public Speaking OR SPCH 1321/Business & Professional Communication (Will not accept any other SPCH course taken)
- 3 semester hour course in Humanities or Visual/Performing Arts (Elective)
- 3 semester hour course in Social Behavioral Science (Elective)
Important Notices
- BIOL 2401 must have been taken within 5 years from the semester applying for admission.
Ex. Applicants for 2019, must have taken BIOL 2401 in the spring semester of 2013 or later. - HPRS 1106 & 1204 must have been taken within 2 years from the semester applying for admission.
Ex. Applicants for 2019, must have taken HPRS 1106 & 1204 in the spring semester of 2017 or later. - Applicants with multiple transcripts will have their GPA's averaged, when calculating GPA points.
- All students are strongly encouraged to speak to a Radiologic Technology academic advisor at least one semester prior to applying to the program.
