Program Overview

The rapid changes taking place in all new phases of global business are presenting new employment opportunities for those with business degrees. Your entry into these global and regional business opportunities is the Associate in Arts Degree in Business Administration at Del Mar College. The Business Administration curriculum is designed to prepare students to enter the workforce or advance to a four-year degree. It also prepares students who are already employed for career advancement.

Students also have the option of completing the degree 100% online.  If interested, a student can measure their readiness for online instruction by completing the Online Readiness Assessment provided by the college.  The assessment is an indicator of the degree to which online learning and/or learning in a technology rich environment will be a good fit for you.  For more information, please contact your advisor.

It is Del Mar College's continuing policy to educate students in the very latest developments in all business fields. Prepare for a career in accounting, general business, management, marketing, economics or finance.

ACCOUNTING: The language of business

An accountant's work is critically important in contemporary business. Availability of jobs and relatively high starting salaries have made accounting one of the most in-demand majors on college campuses. Accountants work in corporations, accounting firms, independent businesses, government and nonprofit organizations.

FINANCE AND ECONOMICS: The Facilitator of Business

The financial manager plans, obtains and manages the company's funds in order to accomplish the company's objectives effectively and efficiently. They work as bank loan officers, financial advisors, act as consultants, and are Chief Financial Officers for companies.

MANAGEMENT AND GENERAL BUSINESS: The Backbone of Business

Whether it's running a multinational enterprise or a local retail store, the manager's job is to combine human resources and technology to achieve company goals. The work is hard but the compensation can be very rewarding.

MARKETING: The Promoter of Business

Marketing is the link between the organization and the people who buy and use its goods and services. It is the path to developing loyal, long-term customers. Careers in marketing include research, analysis, design and promotion.
