Raul GarciaRaul brings over 30 years of experience in both private and public industries. The first fourteen years of his career focused on private industries that included Deloitte (formerly Deloitte & Touche), American Express Tax and Business Services, and Altschuler, Melvoin and Glasser, CPA’s. This experience allowed him to develop a wide range of technical skills including accounting, budget planning, financial management, financial reporting, operational and grant compliance.

He started working at Morton Community College in 2004 . This marked a turning point in his career when he first became a public servant by transitioning into the higher education space. Over the years, he has acquired a deep knowledge of financial and investment operations paired with strategic planning while working at a wide range of institutions including Oakton Community College, City Colleges of Chicago, Northern Illinois University and most recently Del Mar College.

In addition to his current role as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Del Mar College, he is also using his technical financial background as a peer evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). He has participated in several SACSCOC committees for the purpose of assessing operational improvements and compliance with the SACSCOC standards leading to accreditation by member institutions.
