Program Overview

The Associate of Arts in Teaching Grades 8–12 Journalism satisfies the lower-division requirements for a bachelor's degree leading to initial Texas certification to teach journalism in a high school. The course work introduces students to the field of mass communication, basic news photography, news gathering and writing, and editing and layout as well as the field of education.

Curriculum

Students planning to continue at a senior college should consult an advisor concerning degree requirements of the college to which transfer is intended.
