PTA PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT
The Physical Therapist Assistant Program is committed to preparing students for a career in the profession of physical therapy. The two-year professional curriculum is designed to provide opportunities to assimilate knowledge, develop skills, respect the rights of individuals, and acquire competencies, which prepare the student for job entry, economic independence, occupational advancement, and career development as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Mission of Del Mar College
Del Mar College provides access to quality education, workforce preparation, and lifelong learning for student and community success.
The PTA Program supports the mission of Del Mar College to provide quality, technical career education so that graduates are competent Physical Therapist Assistants that meet the challenges of today’s changing healthcare environment.
PTA Program Goals
Consultation with individuals knowledgeable in the practice and education of Physical Therapist Assistant has led to the formation of several overall program goals:
The graduates of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program will:
- Demonstrate entry level competence in a safe and effective manner.
- Achieve 100% ultimate pass rate on the national license exam.
- Be prepared to practice in a manner that reflects the Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Establish a proactive approach to lifelong learning and community involvement.
- Be prepared to support a strong clinical education program offering trained clinical instructors and a variety of clinical education sites.
