About Teresa
Certified Reading Teacher, Teresa Saldivar is a proud alumni of Del Mar College (DMC) and a graduate of Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi where she once served as an Island Ambassador.
She successfully completed the continuing education classes, Smartstart, at the Small Business Development Center. One of her greatest honors includes dancing for Dolores Huerta here at DMC. This past year she was an educator/cultural entertainer for DMC National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Teresa enjoys bringing cultural stories to life in the Blackbox and HEB Theater Art Museum of South Texas. She has been a Dance/Drama Literacy Program Teacher incorporating every second-grade classroom in CCISD. She is also an AMST summer camp teacher.
At the AMST, she was chosen as a 10 by 10 Performance Artist. Also, one of her greatest honors is being featured on the YWCA mural.
Teresa was a past Second Runner Up/Miss Congenitality winner of the LULAC Féria de las Flores. She has also trained award- winning young ladies in the Féria competing in the past several years.
She is now the founder of Baila Vida - Ms. Teresa’s Dance Theatre sharing her love of the healing arts through art, music, dance, and storytelling. With Team Dance she participated in the local Dia de los Muertos Street Festival for 15 years and directed the (Whataburger) Children’s Stage for 4 years. Her dance work has been featured as a Special Guest Artist for the Texas Folklife Creative Initiative in Austin, Tx. She loves attending Tribal Joy (dance member 20+ years).
Teresa studied Ballet Folklorico in Vera Cruz and Oaxaca, Mexico with the Rotary Group Study Exchange.
With the passing of legendary Johnny Canales, she remembered her time on the Johnny Canales Show as a teen hostess. She was inspired by the show.
