About Mayra
Born in Austin and raised in the small town of Tivoli, Mayra Zamora, is a freelance artist who works with local nonprofit organizations in Corpus Christi.
Additionally, the artist has created artwork for Whataburger, Stripes Convenience Stores, Laredo Taco Company, and K Space Contemporary, among others.
Recently honored by the Corpus Christi Westside Business Association for her artwork and community involvement, Zamora’s accolades include Young Alumnus by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Best Fine Arts Painter by The Bend Magazine, and “La Estrella Award” in Arts and Humanities by the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas, and more.
Zamora’s current body of work is a devotion to the fundamentals of art and her love for her Mexican heritage. The muralist and educator focuses on what she considers the most important elements of art—line, shape, and color—while incorporating Mexican-American iconography. Her artwork is inspired by pre-Columbian and modern art, including a kaleidoscope of color and often includes her black and white artist codex, allowing the viewer to become an active participant in decoding her work literally and visually.
Among the numerous solo and group exhibitions, Zamora has participated in exhibitions in Texas, New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, and many more.
As a recipient of numerous scholarships which helped fuel her dream of becoming an educator and an artist, Zamora earned a Bachelor of Art degree and a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi.

Mónica Marie García was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, where her artistic journey began amidst the vibrant culture and lively spirit of her hometown. From a young age, Mónica showed a natural talent and passion for art, which she nurtured through her education and experiences.
Mónica is renowned for her transformative murals that breathe life into ordinary walls, turning them into extraordinary canvases that tell stories of community and culture. Her work not only beautifies spaces but also captures the essence of Corpus Christi and South Texas.
Having exhibited extensively throughout Texas, Mónica has made a significant mark with over 30 murals adorning her community. Her dedication to public art has earned her acclaim, including the title of Best Fine Arts Painter in 2023 by The Bend Magazine. She continues to receive accolades in the best mural category, solidifying her reputation as a leading muralist in the region.
Mónica's creativity extends beyond murals; she is also a versatile window artist, chalkboard artist, henna artist, caricaturist, and face and body painter. Her diverse skills enrich her artistic expression and community engagement, reflecting her dynamic approach to art.
For over 15 years, Mónica has been a pillar in Corpus Christi's art education scene, teaching step-by-step painting classes that inspire and empower students of all ages. Her classrooms are known for fostering artistic energy and creativity, echoing her infectious passion for art.
Mónica holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, with a concentration in painting and printmaking. Her academic background has strengthened her technical skills and artistic vision, contributing to the depth and diversity of her portfolio.
Mónica's goal has always been to lead a life immersed in creativity, aiming to #makecorpuscolorful one wall at a time. Through her art and teaching, she continues to enrich her community and inspire others to embrace creativity as a powerful force for positive change.
