Program Overview
The Kinesiology Department offers an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Kinesiology, an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Fitness and Exercise Science, and a Personal Training Certificate.
The Kinesiology Department offers courses for the student who seeks an Associates of Arts (AA) degree in Kinesiology or to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Health, or Recreation, as well as the student who is interested in learning or perfecting skills and developing fitness.
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree is designed to prepare students for employment in positions at health and fitness clubs, wellness centers, and recreation facilities. Courses will feature lecture hours, lab hours, and hands-on activities. Students will have the opportunity to obtain the Personal Training certificate through courses offered in the AAS degree.
The Personal Training certificate program is delivered in eight-week courses offered in a face-to-face classroom environment with web-enhanced materials. Courses will feature lecture hours, lab hours, hands-on activities, presentations, and guest speakers. The 16-SCH certificate will provide students with the necessary skills to pass a certification exam required for employment as a Personal Trainer.
