Drive Your Future Forward with Diesel Applied Technology
The Diesel/Heavy Equipment Program is currently AED certified (Associate Equipment Distributors) and offers students a pathway for obtaining their CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) while enrolled. In addition, voluntary certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is encouraged in order to help students further their careers. Technicians may be certified as Master Medium/ Heavy-Duty Truck Technician or may be certified in one or more of the following different areas of medium/ heavy-duty truck repair. Technicians must pass a written examination and have at least two years of experience (two years of school count as one year of experience). In addition, in order to retain certification technicians must retest every five years. These areas of certification include the following:
- T1 Gasoline Engines
- T2 Diesel Engines
- T3 Drive Train
- T4 Brakes
- T5 Suspension and Steering
- T6 Electrical/Electronic Systems
- T7 Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- T8 Preventative Maintenance
