Program Overview

Cardiac Sonography is a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images of the heart. Cardiac Sonography is utilized for the detection and treatment of heart disease, heart attack and vascular disease that can lead to stroke.

Curriculum

Deadline to apply is December 1 (each year). Students will receive written notification of acceptance to the program. Students must have completed a Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) certificate program or show proof of exemption.

Accreditation

The Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs at Del Mar College are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (9355 - 113th St. N, #7709, Seminole, FL 33775; 727-210-2350; fax: 727-210-2354; mail@caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (6201 University Blvd., Suite 500, Ellicott City, MD; 443-973-3251; jrcdms.org).

The Goals and Philosophy of the Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program are in adherence with the Division, the College and the accreditation body. The goals reaffirm the program's commitment to meet the diverse needs of the students, the college and the community.

As required by 34 CFR 668.43(c): Del Mar College has not yet made the determination if the curriculum of Cardiac Sonography, Associate in Applied Science, meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in any U.S. Territory or state other than Texas.
