Interpreting Lab
The American Sign Language & Interpreting Program has a fully digital interpreting lab available for student use, which is open a minimum of 19 hours per week. Lab hours are adjusted each semester to fit with course schedules. The lab features:
Over 300 videos for ASL and interpreting practice
18 student stations with:
- Computer with DVD-RW capability, Internet access and Microsoft Office
- Headphones
- Digital video camera
- Sony Soloist® ASL Digital Video Comparative Recorder
- Audio/Video Comparative Recording
- Playback an audio file while recording a video file (optionally with audio).
- Playback of all in synchronization
- Video/Video Comparative Recording
- Playback a video file while recording a video file (optionally with audio).
- Playback of all in synchronization - Video file playback in one window, local camera/recording in a second window
- Real-time Audio/Video Comparative Recording
- Teacher or model student can speak while students record video
- Teacher can "stream" audio (from any source) while students record video
- Real-time Video Communications
- Monitor - View any student camera on teacher PC
- All Call, Group Call and Model - Send teacher’s/student’s camera video to all or a Group of students
- Intercom, Pairing - Teacher-student/student-student “video chat”
- All Call + Model - Send teacher’s and a student’s camera video to all
