Welcome to the Cain Art Gallery

Texas Photographic Society: 32 The International Competition

September 20 – November 22, 2024

This fall, the Cain Art Gallery is opening a new art exhibition by the Texas Photographic Society. 32: The International Competition is an open-themed juried exhibition featuring 49 photographs selected by juror María Beatriz H. Carrión, Assistant Curator of Photographs at the Amon Carter Museum of Art.

In addition to curating the final show, Carrión chose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award winners plus five honorable mentions. She says of her selection process, “My goal was to highlight as many approaches and subject matter as possible. This year’s winning images embody photography’s ability to capture a moment in time, tell stories, and transport us to new places.”

The show’s Opening Reception is Friday, September 20, 6-8 p.m. and closes Friday, November 22, 2024. At the Opening Reception, there will be a cash bar and complimentary catered food.

  • The Annual National Drawing & Small Sculpture Show

The "Annual National Drawing & Small Sculpture Show" has been renamed to the "CAIN National Show." This change reflects our commitment to embrace a broader range of artistic media, welcoming various forms of artwork beyond drawing and small sculptures. By renaming the show, we also pay tribute to Joseph A. Cain, the visionary founder who established this event in 1966. Our hope is that the new name will inspire a more diverse array of applicants and exhibitors, fostering an inclusive environment for all artists.
