NCCER Ironworking Training Course

Course Summary

Construction and industry are booming in the Coastal Bend. Get your foot in the door with NCCER Core + Level I & II credentials in ironworking. Be ready to enter the high-demand job market in just eight weeks.

Ironworking (Structural Steel) is a high-demand skill in the construction industry. In this hands-on course, you'll quickly learn how to construct, install, and maintain iron/steel structures while emphasizing the highest safety standards.  

Date: October 21, 2024 - December 20, 2024

Duration:  320 Hours (8 weeks); Monday-Friday;  8 AM-5 PM

Where: Del Mar College - Windward Campus, 4101 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas; Workforce Development Center

Cost:  $3,800 (scholarships available for qualified students)

Major Course Topics:

  • Core (80hrs)
    • NCCER Introduction to Safety Principles and Responsibilities
    • Identification of Ironwork Structures and Tools

  • Level I (120hrs)
    • Selection and Usage of Ironworking Hand and Power Tools
    • Selection and Usage of Oxyfuel Cutting, Mobile cranes, and Rigging
 

  • Level II (120hrs)
    • Welding Codes
    • Column and Beam Erection
    • Ironworker Trade Math
    • Steel Joists and Joist Girders
    • Survey Equipment Use and Care One

Job offers with industry partners are available upon course completion.
