Northwest Center closing after May 14, 2024

DMC Community,

For the past 15 years, Del Mar College has offered dual enrollment, credit and Continuing Education courses at the Northwest Center in Calallen. The Center was established to provide convenient educational opportunities to residents in that area of Corpus Christi. The facility, a former orthopedic and sports medicine center, was generously provided to the College by HCA Healthcare. However, the lease agreement has concluded, and HCA Healthcare will resume operational control of the building.

Del Mar College will no longer operate the Northwest Center, and the last day of classes there will be on May 14, 2024. Dual enrollment classes will continue at their respective high schools.

The continuation of our students’ educational journeys is our paramount concern. The College is communicating with affected students and encouraging them to enroll at our other campuses or at the Center for Economic Development for Summer and Fall 2024 classes. Students’ first line of communication should be with their advisors.

Del Mar College has always prioritized access to education for everyone in our communities. It’s one of our core values. While the Northwest Center is closing, the College maintains strong relationships with HCA Healthcare, the City of Corpus Christi and area high schools, and future partnerships are certainly possible.

The Northwest Center offers credit, noncredit and online instruction to residents in western Nueces County and beyond. Made possible through a partnership with the Corpus Christi Medical Center, this education center expands educational opportunities for hundreds of students each semester.

The Northwest Center is part of Del Mar College's Continuing Education program. For more information, contact CE staff.
