Dr. Dale Anderson
Chair & Instructor, Communications, Languages, & Reading
Dr. Dale Anderson is an avid consumer of popular culture. He enjoys comedy television and movies. He is very passionate in his fandom of all things Hip Hop. Also, he spends much of his free time following sports. He specifically keeps up with college basketball as a fan of Eastern Michigan University and the University of Kentucky. Academically, he has a keen interest on the impact of culture on individual’s communication and Communication Leadership.

David Barrera, Jr.
Director, Project SENDA
David Barrera Jr. is the current Director of Project SENDA, a federally funded Title V Grant. His experience working with diverse populations as an adjunct instructor and Director of TRIO programs has empowered him to recognize the student perspective and its impact on student success. David also serves on the state board for the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) as the Vice President of Membership for a term that expires in 2024.
His research interests include a strong focus on Latino males in the higher education pipeline.

John Beauford
Compliance Officer, Financial Aid Services
John Beauford works as a financial aid assistant and compliance officer for the Financial Aid Department on the Heritage campus. In his spare time John enjoys spending time with his family and attending his children’s school functions and doing community service projects with them.

Andrew Bridges
Case Manager, Retention Services
Andrew currently works in the Office of Retention Services as a Retention Case Manager, and has worked for the Office of Student Engagement and Retention for approximately 7 years. He has spent over 30 years in the field of education working with highly at-risk students to promote student success. As a Case Manager, he works with students who are experiencing financial, social and academic hardships. Andrew is a product of Corpus Christi of which he graduated from Roy Miller High School.
Andrew enjoys spending time with his family during his time off. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys attending local high school athletic events and supporting the youth of the community. He also regularly attends church and is involved in local ministries in helping the marginalized in our community.

Joshua Delagarza
Office Assistant, Student Engagement & Retention
Joshua Delagarza is the Office Assistant for Student Engagement and Retention at the Oso Creek campus. Joshua is currently pursuing an Associate in Arts in Social Work at Del Mar College. On his off time, he spends his time with his two dogs and cat. When Joshua is not spending time with his fur-babies he is playing video games and watching the latest hit tv shows. Joshua is a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and is a first-generation student.
Dr. Carlos Garanzuay
Director of Admissions, Student Enrollment Center
Dr. Carlos Garanzuay, a U.S. Air Force veteran, currently serves as the Director of Admissions in the Student Enrollment Center (SEC) at Del Mar College. Dr. Garanzuay was selected as Chair of Del Mar College’s Exempt Council, and serves as the Co-representative for the South Region of the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE). He currently serves on the Conference Planning Committees for both Texas Association of Higher Education Assessors and Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education. Carlos is also an adjunct professor, teaching Public Speaking courses.
Carlos is also a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi Class 48, “The Great 48”, and was recognized as one of Corpus Christi’s “40Under40” in 2016.

Edward "EJ" Goodroe
Director, Veterans Services
Edward J. (EJ) Goodroe is the Director of the Veterans Center for Del Mar College. For the past 10 years, EJ has spent his post military career working with service members, veterans and the military-affiliated community in higher education. A Marine Corps veteran, he served as a Radio/Satellite Communications Operator and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. Upon his discharge, EJ enrolled in Northern Virginia Community College which is where his academic and professional career began.
Prior to Del Mar College, EJ previously worked at American University, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Administration: Education Service, The George Washington University and Northern Virginia Community College.
Originally from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, EJ moved to Corpus Christi in 2017. He is an avid learner and firmly believes that education not only enlightens the individual but presents opportunities and opens doors for those who are willing to walk through them.

Ronald Guerrero
Computer Tech Specialist
Ron has diverse knowledge in critical thinking and troubleshooting skills that helps him over-see and maintain all Technology for the GAMB (GEN) Building and Stone Writing Center. Additionally, he also oversees Virtual Registration for Heritage Campus and other additional responsibilities for I.T.
Outside of Del Mar, Ron practices Martial Arts such as Kendo and Muay Thai, and likes to play yugioh, paintball and video games. Ron likes to compete and have fun!

Garrett Klepac
Term Instructor, Architecture & Drafting
Garrett is Term Instructor for the Architecture and Drafting Program at Del Mar College and has been for 4 years. He has worked with people of all ages and all walks of life in learning drafting software, using computers, and bringing out creativity.
Garrett has experience in a variety of drafting fields including Construction, Architecture, Machine, and Pipe Drafting. He utilizes his knowledge to help keep students on track or to help them find a career path that helps suit the strengths of a student who needs the guidance.
In his free time, Garrett loves to play video games, card games, and board games. He often looks for new nerdy hobbies to get into and he enjoys watching Football and Basketball on top of that.
Steven McFarlin
Counselor, Counseling Center
Steven McFarlin is an Arkansas native who, in 2020, began working at Del Mar College as a career counselor and, as of 2021, has moved into the role of mental health counselor at the Counseling Center. He has experience working with adults and minors dealing with mental health crises as well as working with adults dealing with substance use challenges, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues.
While he’s passionate about working with any student who has shown the courage to seek counseling, Steven’s primary interest areas have been working with gender and affectional minorities, as well as ethnic minorities and those students who have a history of legal involvement. Steven constantly strives to learn from the people he works with, taking the approach that everybody can always learn more about our fellow humans and the unique challenges and strengths they have.
When not working with students, Steven finds time to utilize his self-care skills by playing PC-based games, taking his dogs Jack and Red for a walk, and keeping up with his favorite TV shows. Steven is a lifelong learner so he also enjoys gaining knowledge about the populations with which he works, in his free time, through documentaries and web series.

Robert montez
Director, Early College Programs/Adjunct Instructor
Robert “Bob” Montez is the Director of Early College Programs (Dual Credit), and an Adjunct Instructor in the Communications Department at Del Mar College. He has worked for the past nine years with this program, and a total of 13 years in post-secondary with two other local institutions. Bob is a native Corpus Christian and a graduate of W.B. Ray High School. His current position has allowed him to work with high school students, beginning their college career earlier and assist with transitioning them on to a post-secondary school after high school graduation. Prior to entering into higher education, Bob worked in the private sector as a Chemist in Houston, Texas and an engineer in the semiconductor industry in Austin, Texas. Bob really enjoys his current position as it allows him to assist and inspire students to reach their educational and career goals.

Javier Morin
Professor, Spanish
Javier Morin is Professor of Spanish at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. He has taught courses in Beginning and Intermediate Spanish for 20 years both at his current institution and previously at other Texas institutions and in Iowa where he did graduate work. He is focused on delivering quality input and on inspiring his students to continue learning. His greatest satisfaction comes from seeing his students become proficient cultural learners.
Working in the educational field gives Professor Morin a unique insight into student learning, and this has motivated him to publish three works—two student textbooks Excursiones: An Invitation to Spanish, and Expediciones: An Invitation to Spanish, and a Laboratory Manual for language learners.
Most recently, Morin is teaching Spanish and coordinating the Mexican American Studies Program at Del Mar College. He advises undergraduate students in their pursuit of higher degrees.

Joseph Ruiz
Director, Financial Aid Services
Mr. Joseph Ruiz was born and raised in Kingsville, Texas, where he still lives today. Joseph began his career working for various non-profit organizations, The Institute of Rural Development and The LULAC National Education Service Center. The major focus of these non-profit organizations was to serve historically underrepresented populations and their need for basic life skills training, education and career development, and breaking a cycle of poverty, which plagued a six-county area in the South Texas.
Joseph went on to work for Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the Office of Student Financial Aid where he held titles of Financial Aid Outreach Advisor, Assistant Director, and Associate Director. Joseph is now the Director of Financial Aid Services at Del Mar College and he continues to look for ways to innovate and inform students, parents, faculty, and staff on the complexities of the financial aid process.

Gregory Sanchez
Instructor of Management Development, Business & Entrepreneurship
Greg Sanchez is a Corpus Christi native, born and raised, and a graduate of Del Mar College. He has been an employee of Del Mar College for over seven years. Currently, Greg is an instructor of Management in the Business Administration and Entrepreneurship (BAEN) department. Positions and duties with Del Mar College have included being a computer lab assistant, adjunct professor, and academic advisor. Greg became interested in business while attending school at Del Mar College and while working for a local small business.
As an instructor, it is important for him to provide quality instruction and to be available to students. Greg believes the relationship between the teacher and student is a reciprocal relationship built on trust, honor, and understanding - "I learn from you as much as you learn from me. " It is his hope to provide a sense of balance and consistency in other's lives, and to instill drive in his students. In his free time, Greg enjoys time with family and friends, meditation, music, movies, exercising, reading, watching baseball, football, basketball, and any kind of combat sport. He is also a collector of anything that piques his interest. "I wish you all the best in the future. Take care of yourself and take care of someone else."

Valton Stinson
Director, TRIO Student Support Services
Valton’s passion has been helping students and communities throughout Coastal Bend for 11 years. He started as a TRIO Talent Search Advisor. He was able to become Director of both Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science with Texas A&M University - Kingsville and Coastal Bend College working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In his roles, Valton has provided educational opportunities and access by nurturing students’ passion for pursuing and obtaining a higher education.
Valton considers his most significant achievement to be hearing from former program participants and learning about their accomplishments in getting their degrees and other opportunities. His ultimate goal is to continue to help low-income and first-generation college students in Coastal Bend gain opportunity and access to obtaining their education in the hope that they become future leaders for their families and communities.

Omar Villarreal
Director, Student Success Center
Omar currently serves as the Director of the Del Mar College Student Success Center where his team provides tutoring, success coaching, and technology assistance, among other things, for the success of our students. Omar thrives in working with populations that include first generation students and minority populations who wish to succeed!

Newman Chun Wai Wong
Research Associate, Office of Institutional Research
Newman is a Research Associate in the Office of Institutional Research at Del Mar College. Originally from Hong Kong, Newman came to the United States as a high school exchange student for a year. After high school graduation, he decided to stay in the United States to further his education as a first-generation college student.
Newman has over ten years of experiences in institutional research, assessment, and accreditation. Prior to joining Del Mar College, he worked at Hutson-Tillotson University, an historically Black college in Austin, and Midwestern State University, a Texas public liberal art university. He has taught undergraduate Introductory Sociology and Racial and Ethnic Relations courses as an adjunct faculty member. As an applied sociologist, Newman has collaborated on research projects with faculty and practitioners from different disciplines and presented findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. He has also conducted research in China and Cuba. His research interests in higher education include minority students’ experiences, academic dishonesty, student affairs, and institutional effectiveness.
Outside of work, Newman volunteers for various professional and nonprofit organizations, including as a treasurer for the Del Mar Chapter of Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) . He was honored in Class of 2020 of Corpus Christi Under 40 for his professional and community contributions. In addition, he enjoys trying different ethnic foods, yoga, traveling, and adrenaline activities, including bungee jumping and skydiving. He rappelled from a 20-story building to raise college scholarship funds for the Del Mar College Foundation twice.
