Emergency Scholarship Information: Each student may receive only one Student Emergency Scholarship during their education at Del Mar College. Emergency Loan Information: Emergency Loan funds are short-term, no-cost loans and must be repaid by the end of the semester in which they were awarded unless special arrangements have been made with the Foundation Office.Multiple Emergency Loans are available as long as previous Foundation loans have been repaid. Emergency Assistance is for students who experience an unexpected and unforeseen circumstance which jeopardizes their ability to pay for their education. Awards are generally limited to a maximum of $750 for full time students and $400 for part time students. Q: How do you prioritize student applications for assistance (both scholarships and loans)? Priority is given to students who have compelling emergencies, have exhibited due diligence in planning and financing their education up to this emergency, have exhibited due diligence in exploring funding options, and have demonstrated commitment toward their academic pursuit as evidenced through GPA performance (2.0 minimum GPA is required for all DMCF Scholarships). Students who have exceeded their Financial Aid maximum allotment will be considered only under compelling extenuating circumstances. Additional consideration will be given to those students whose demonstrated need will help them in the completion of their academic program. Q: I missed the Del Mar College Foundation scholarship application deadline. I didn’t think I’d need a scholarship, but my situation has changed and I’m suddenly out of funds. Can you help me? Possibly, but the help is not immediate. All students are able to apply for Student Emergency Assistance at any time, but it takes up to 5 working days for processing the application package and to determine eligibility. The Student Emergency Loan may be received multiple times as long as all previous loans have been repaid. Q: How soon must I complete and turn in my Del Mar College Foundation, Student Emergency Scholarship application? There is no deadline for the Student Emergency Assistance. Not all students who apply are eligible and funds are limited. Q: I need help with funding for Summer I and/or II courses. Can I apply for summer scholarships from Del Mar College Foundation? The only Del Mar College Foundation scholarship available for any of the summer courses is the Student Emergency Scholarship. Even if dual credit students miss applying for regular DMC Scholarships between February 1st and April 30th of each year, they may apply for a Student Emergency Scholarship like any other Del Mar College student.
