Registrants Encouraged to Check Financial Aid Availability or Set Up Installment Plans to Meet Payment Deadlines

Thinking about taking 16-week credit courses at Del Mar College this fall? Now is the time to register and pay tuition and fees instead of waiting until the last minute. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 28.

“The process is different this year with set registration periods and payment deadlines,” says Patricia Benavides-Dominguez, dean of Student Outreach and Enrollment Services. “When students register, they also need to pay their tuition and fees by the deadline set for the specific registration period they’ve used.”

What happens if they don’t pay? Schedules are dropped from the system to open seats for the next registration opportunity, which means individuals will have to register, again.

Benavides-Dominguez encourages registrants to visit the East and West Campuses to talk with representatives in the College’s Enrollment Centers, Financial Aid Offices and even with staff in the Business Offices to set up an installment plan. These resources are located in the East Campus Harvin Student Center (Ayers and Baldwin) and the West Campus Coleman Center (Old Brownsville and Airport Roads).

“College representatives are here to help registrants get through the full process, but we must also enforce deadlines to ensure everyone has the same opportunity to schedule the courses they need this fall,” she adds.

Current registration opportunities and deadlines run through tomorrow, Aug. 9, and next Wednesday, Aug. 16, with payment due online by 11:59 p.m. those two dates. Online registration re-opens at 6 a.m. on Aug. 10 and Aug. 17.

The College also has set the very final registration date for 16-week courses (or the full semester) for Wednesday, Aug. 23.  “Final On-campus Registration” is scheduled Saturday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Online Registration is also available. Payment is due the day individuals register.
