GrowSmart™ Series Designed to Take Successful Business Operations Further

Are you a business owner who is thinking about expanding? Recognizing the need for flexibility and agility in today’s rapidly changing environment also means applying various techniques to reach a greater potential during your current business cycle.  

The Del Mar College (DMC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) five-week GrowSmart™ series is designed for owners and senior managers of growing businesses with at least two years of successful operation, annual revenues of $300,000 or more and the opportunity and desire to grow.

Planning for growth, planning and implementing a marketing strategy, leading and managing people, financial analysis and improving operations are topics addressed using multiple learning approaches. 

The GrowSmart™ series begins Tuesday, April 11, and runs through May 9 with all five sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the College’s Center for Economic Development (3209 S. Staples). 

Cost is $395, which includes lunch and workbooks. Payment is due by noon on Friday, April 7.  Seminar fee assistance with a March 20 deadline is available for qualifying businesses. Register online at or contact SBDC program coordinator Monica Benavides at 361-698-1021.

GrowSmart™ provides participants intensive, interactive and frequent hands-on instruction. The program also provides business owners an opportunity to draft their plans in class and collaborate with other business owners to review and improve those plans. 

Participants can expect a wealth of information, including a well-crafted handbook, relevant TED Talks, a robust bibliography of pertinent business and motivational books as well as the invaluable resource of experience shared by other business owners. 

Participants will have an opportunity for guidance and support as they step to the next level with their business. Modules include:
